There’s something about sipping a vibrant purple drink on a warm day that feels like pure luxury — and this Blueberry Hibiscus Lemonade delivers exactly that. It’s tangy, lightly floral, and naturally sweetened with monk fruit, making it a refreshing, guilt-free treat for summer afternoons, girls’ nights, or even post-walk hydration.
I first whipped this up while looking for a homemade alternative to those $7 bougie lemonades at coffee shops. I wanted something that looked pretty in a glass but didn’t come with 40 grams of sugar. The result? A refreshing, antioxidant-rich, slightly fancy lemonade you’ll want to keep on repeat.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- Visually stunning – that deep purple hue is all-natural and gorgeous.
- Low sugar – sweetened with monk fruit instead of refined sugar.
- Antioxidant-rich – made with hibiscus and blueberries, which are full of nutrients.
- Perfect for entertaining – serve it layered over ice for that gradient wow factor.
- Customizable – add sparkling water or a splash of vodka for a twist.

Ingredients & Notes
Hibiscus Syrup
- ½ cup dried hibiscus flowers – You can find these in the tea aisle or international section of most stores. They add a tart, floral note and stunning color.
- 1 cup water
- ¾ cup monk fruit sweetener – I use Lakanto. You can sub with honey or agave if you prefer.
Blueberry Mix
- 1 cup blueberries (fresh or frozen)
- 1 cup water
Lemonade Base
- 1½ lemons, juiced – Fresh is best here.
- 2 cups cold water
Optional Garnishes
- Fresh mint
- Lemon slices
- Extra blueberries
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Make the Hibiscus Syrup
In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup water and ¾ cup monk fruit. Stir over medium heat until dissolved. Add in the hibiscus flowers, bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer for 5–7 minutes. Strain and set aside to cool.
2. Make the Blueberry Mix
Rinse your saucepan and add blueberries and 1 cup water. Bring to a boil, then reduce to medium. Simmer for 5 minutes until berries burst. Pour into a small bowl, mash with a spoon or fork to release juices, then strain and set aside to cool.
3. Mix the Lemonade
In a separate cup or small pitcher, combine fresh lemon juice with 2 cups cold water to create a tart, unsweetened lemonade.
4. Assemble the Drink
To serve, add ice to a glass. Pour in the lemonade first, followed by the blueberry mix, and finally the hibiscus syrup for a gorgeous layered effect. Garnish with mint, lemon slices, or extra blueberries.
Tips & Variations
- Want it bubbly? Use sparkling water instead of still.
- Need more sweetness? Add a few drops of liquid stevia to your cup.
- Boozy version: Add 1 oz vodka or gin for a light summer cocktail.
Storage
Store components separately in the fridge for up to 3 days. Assemble when ready to serve for best color and flavor.
